There are too many business majors in college?

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

I am majoring in Finance but it seems like now everyone is majoring in business. Therefore, it will become difficult/competitive to get jobs because everyone has the degree and it may end up not looking that special because just about everyone will have one. What happened to all other fields of study. Ina few years college will just be changed to colleges of business (LOL) because no one wants to major in other fields, leading the fields of business to be very competitive.

College Question on Business oriented classes?

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

What exactly is the difference between Marketing, Management, and Finance studies for college?
Also, what kind of jobs do you normally place with each? This would be particularly helpful from students that have taken these classes or college professors.

Thanks!

College financing and social life. Your opinions, please?

I’m currently in college. I’m 18 and have been working since I was 15. I actually attend a community college because I can’t afford anything else and I won’t be able to pay for a Bachelor’s degree with my pay when the time comes to transfer. I’m going to be working all summer at 40+ hours a week doing 3 jobs to be able to pay for school. The only thing is that I reeeeeallly want to leave home and live in a dorm, but I’m stuck living at home. I feel like I’ll miss a lot if I don’t move away to college and live at home. I have friends, but they’re all from my work place, so we’re not close. It’s almost impossible to make friends at community college. I don’t have a boyfriend, and sometimes I feel like I won’t ever find a guy that likes me, and I like him, unless I leave home and live on a campus. The problem is that I can’t get any loans because I’m apparently not old enough to get a loan, I’m under 24. My parents make a lot of money, but they can’t help me because they’re in sooooo much debt. I can’t get any scholarships because I’m white girl, just like tons of other poor college students. What do you suggest?

How Do I Save Money For College?

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

I am 14 years old, and I am going to turn 15 in August. I plan to go to The Wharton School Of Finance, which is a very expensive college. Very recently, my family has been struck with very hard financial situations. My parents are divorced and I live with my mother. The IRS is now going after my father for not doing his taxes for the past three or so years.

My father might have to give up his 401 K to pay off the debt- about ,000. That was my college money. My mom will soon be getting a second job just to keep a roof over our heads- as my father can no longer promise child support.

I plan to get a job as soon as I turn 15, and work as much as I can. During the summers, I plan to work two jobs to help me pay for college. So what can I do? How can I save money? What are some things that I can do now, that will help me in the future? Thanks.

Any suggestions on how to finance my college education?

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

I’m aware of Pell grants. I think they cap it off at around ,700 a year. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to cover the rest of my college tution, books, lab fees, room, board, transportation, etc.? My parents never saved a dime for my education. I plan to pursue a major in Criminology or Sociology.

I’d like to kep all of my options open for the future, so I’m kind of trying to steer clear of government loans…not government grants, but government loans. Specifically because if I were ever to apply for a government position in the future, I could not have any outstanding government loans.

If you guys could kick me down a couple good ideas, nothing that would jeopardize my integrity or leave me in anything less than great moral standing please. I appreciate it!
Haha. Thanks to the first answerer…but I’m asking for specific jobs, perhaps a business venture, etc.

Is an Economic Degree sufficient for Accounting after college?

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

I would like to work finance/accounting after college. But my University only offers degrees in Management Science and Economics. I’m leaning towards doing Economics. I was wondering if it was possible to get a job working either finance or accounting with an Econ degree?

Also.. a lot of jobs prefer majors that involve business, financing, or accounting.

Would a degree in Economics fall under those categories?

ANY help would be MUCH appreciated… Thanks!

Financing College?

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

A friend of mine is working on her bachelor’s degree. She has two jobs and gets some financial aid, but doesn’t get enough to cover her school costs. She can’t get more from the school or the state, and her parents do not have good credit so they can’t co-sign on a loan for her. She goes to a private school, so it is a bit expensive, but she cant transfer to another school nearby with the same program because her credits don’t transfer. She’s getting to the point where she thinks she’s going to have to take a semester off to work full time in order to have enough money. I want to help her if I can by finding a way for her to get the money. Any ideas?
