What is the average amount of time it takes to pay back college loans?

I was living in a fantasy land when I thought those stupid little booklets that Student Loan Finance Corporation sent out for a payment plan, was all I had to pay. I never realized how many bloody years it actually took, until I called those creatures today. So, I’m wondering what is the average amount of time it takes for people to pay back their student loans? and why can you pay back a car loan for 20 grand in five years, but a college loans for the same amount takes 18 or something equally as insane? Thank you.

I am a junior who is waching my brother have to join the armed forces since my parents credit isn’t good enough to get him a student loan. I haven’t had any luck with rasing funds my self anybody got a good way to rasie funds to finance a dream of college education?

College financing options in Ontario, Canada?

I went to college 2 years ago, took police foundations in the first semester, and computer engineering in the second semester. I failed both courses due to depression and general chaos in my life. The cost of the failed courses set me back over 00.00 dollars, of which I have paid off about 5000.00. I really, really want to go back to school, but my financial options are limited. Getting rid of my student loan has been expensive, I am not sure how my credit rate is doing, but Im confident it isnt doing well. My question is : what options do I have for financing my education after screwing up so badly? I live in Ontario, so OSAP is the loan I had before. I dont know if they’d finance me again. I dont think I could save up more than 2000 dollars between now and september, and my friends have advised me not to go to work while I go to school. What do you guys think?
