The best way to find out about colleges is to find a college, hop online, and request information about them, talk to their financial aid office, and request a visit.
But in order to find a college, she has to do some researching before hand. I really like the website College Board (see link below). She can also get financial aid by filling out her FAFSA (which is required, and will be tricky since she doesn’t have any parents, but the financial aid office at the college of her choice should be willing to work with her on that) and she can get scholarships at scholarships.com. She actually has a great chance of winning scholarships by emphasizing that she has no parents and great financial need. Colleges also offer lots of scholarships for those who have great financial need. Community college would probably be the cheapest way to go.
Attached below are some good websites to check out. Also, she may have to take her ACT or SAT, and you can find information about the ACT or SAT at the College Board website (the first one listed). Hope this helps!
The internet has tons of info about colleges and financial aid. Did you have a specific question?
Start looking at possible schools, contact them and let them know your problem. I am sure if you go to the school even that you are interested in, they could help you. The first thing she needs to do is take the ACT if she hasn’t, then start looking at schools. I used collegedata.com to search for schools, and to my surprise it worked. just register, it is free. you can search independently for schools or search regions. it was very cool
. After that, you look at cost and the average costs, and then contact schools once you start getting accepted.
Most likely she can still register for the spring semester next fall. Good LuCKK
